Information You Enter
A name, phone number, or address typed into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that operates the results service. San Diego County Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search terms on its own servers. If you contact the operators, the message includes the details you choose to provide and is used to answer the request.
Ordinary Technical Logs
Hosting systems may record routine technical information such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. The operators use aggregate information to keep the reference available and understand which records pages are useful. Cookies or related tools may support basic analytics or advertising measurement when those services are enabled.
How Collected Information Is Used
Information is used to operate the reference, troubleshoot failures, measure traffic, and improve explanations of San Diego County record sources. Visitor lists are not sold, and the operators do not intentionally build a personal profile of an individual reader.
Outside Portals and Links
Pages link to ARCC, California elections and vital-record services, Superior Court, San Diego Public Library collections, archives, and other providers. Their privacy policies control what happens when information is submitted on their domains. Sponsored search results are supplied by a third party, not by a county or state records office.
Who Can Process Technical Data
Hosting and support providers may process server logs while keeping the service running. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Information may also be disclosed when a valid legal process requires it; otherwise, the operators do not disclose visitor data as a routine practice.
Security and Retention
The reference uses an encrypted connection, and logs are kept only for the operational purposes described here. There are no visitor accounts, passwords, or personal profiles stored by San Diego County Residents Directory. No online measure removes every risk, so avoid placing unnecessary sensitive information in a message or form.
Visitors Under 18
The material is intended for adults and is not directed to children. The operators do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor sent information, the Contact page can be used to request review and deletion of information held in the contact mailbox or logs.
California Privacy Choices
Depending on the person and the data involved, California’s Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code sections 1798.100 and following, as amended by the CPRA, provides rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing, subject to exceptions. The California Privacy Protection Agency and the state privacy portal provide current guidance at privacy.ca.gov and cppa.ca.gov. The Delete Act adds a data-broker deletion mechanism for covered requests.
Because this reference keeps very little, a request usually involves checking the contact mailbox and relevant server logs. Public records held by California, San Diego County, the City of San Diego, courts, libraries, or other custodians are outside the operators’ control. Removal or correction requests for those records must go to the responsible office.
Changes to This Policy
When the privacy practices or legal requirements change, an updated version will be posted here. Continued use after the new version appears indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
